Ruth: The Long Road Home, Part II

June 19, 2011

From leaving the land she loved, to facing the death of her husband and two boys; Naomi has changed. Through all of Naomi’s pain and anxiety, she has begun to experience a blurred perception of God’s working in her life. Over the years, Naomi has begun to see God not as the God of her ancestors but as cosmic force bent on dishing-out heartache to her. Even in the face of the overwhelming support of Ruth, Naomi has stopped seeing God as good in her life. While Naomi understood the greatness of God she lost focus on the fact that God was also good. By not keeping a firm grasp on both truths in the midst of heartache, Naomi’s view of God changed from a pleasant woman to a bitter old maid.
