We are continuing with our special series, “INDICATIVE & IMPERATIVE”. In today’s passage, we find Peter writing the following imperative: “Submit yourselves for the Lord’s sake to every human authority…”. Especially in times when authorities are untrustworthy and corrupt, this seems counter-intuitive. It seems to go against the mandate to “be holy.” But Peter reminds his readers that their good behavior, despite the circumstances, will be used by God to bring about his sovereign purposes.
